Onze reis zit er bijna op, maar de cirkel is al rond. We kwamen 14 augustus aan in Rusland, en 4 maanden later zijn we nu... terug in Rusland...
Inderdaad.
Ons "luxe-resort" waar we eens even zouden genieten van een ontspannen strandvakantie in een chique omgeving is een stevige anticlimax. Het feit dat wij de enige niet-Russen zijn in het hotel (op wat Zweden na) is niet direct een probleem, maar het gevolg hiervan is dat de sfeer in dit resort diep onder het vriespunt zit. We dachten 's avonds eens lekker decadent pina coladas te sippen in een gezellige strandbar vol uitgelaten vakantiegangers met een kleurtje, maar de bar is leeg, omdat de tafels al klaar staan om de tourgroepen van hun BBQ te voorzien.
Een pintje aan het zwembad kost dubbel zoveel als in een ander (goed) restaurant. Toen ik om drie ijsblokjes ging vragen vroegen ze er 10 Baht voor. Ik had graag het muntstuk van 10 bath gebruikt om het loeihard in die barman zijn oog te keilen, maar dat bedrag leverde me even later aan de overkant van de straat een volle zak ijs en een limoen op... Verschrikkelijk. Ik vraag me af hoe significant die 10B gaan zijn in verhouding met het bedrag dat ze zullen mislopen nadat wij de evaluatie van onze bookingssite en Lonely Planet hebben ingevuld. Nu ja... die Russen kunnen toch geen Engels, maar toch...
Gelukkig is alles er om op jezelf te genieten. Een mooi strand, groot zwembad, degelijk ontbijt, een propere, goede kamer met alles erop en eraan en de beste douche ter wereld (zo'n regenvalgeval..), ware het niet dat de (lekker grote) douchekop ongeveer ter hoogte van je kin komt.
Uit die douche kwam gisteren ook al geen warm water, maar da's een ander verhaal...
We hebben hier in Thailand wel al leuke tijden beleefd. We hebben een scootertje gehuurd voor de hele week, waarmee we al enkele stranden zijn gaan opzoeken. Gisteren zijn we gaan snorkelen, wat geweldig was!
Jammerlijk bijverschijnsel van al het zonnen en zeeen is dat we allebei vreselijk verbrand zijn, de enige reden dat we nu achter de PC zitten in plaats van op het strand.
Morgenochtend pikt een busje ons op om naar Bangkok te vertrekken, de laatste stop in onze reis...

Nou, dat is een fijn vooruitzicht... Wij gaan over 5 dagen naar Ko Chang. Straks met de nachttrein naar Bangkok, dus wie weet zien we elkaar weeeeerr!
