Hardware

(Apparently, there are some non Dutch fans amongst us. Therefore, this blog will be written partly in English from now on.)

For those who know me well, the following declaration might not come as a surprise: " I am Frederik, and I'm a hardware-fetishist."
Call me an idiot, call me a materialist, but nothing makes my day more than unpacking some shiny new toys, gadgets or pieces of indispensible equipment (almost nothing). Hardware!
And of course, when undertaking a trip like ours, it is quite normal to spend some money on things you need. Therefore, this post is dedicated to some of our (new) apparel and equipment.

Let's start with one of the finest new pieces of our collection: MY NEW BACKPACK!!!!!
I present to you: the Macpac Traverse! Isn't it excellent? The vendor of Traxs, our favourite adventure store(who have a nice reduction system for regular customers!!!), recommended us this brand and type, as it is made of some special fabric that is durable and waterresistant, eliminating the need for a waterproof cover. (georgeous!) It's a New-Zealand manufacturer, and the backpack doesn't look very "designish", as the design is purely aimed at functionality, which just makes it look brilliant! The next item is the sleeping bag. Although we just heard that we might not need a sleeping bag, due to the fact that hostel are well-equiped in Asia, I wouldn't feel comfortable without carrying my own portable cosy bed. Therefore, we went to look for a nice and comfy bag for both of us. After evaluating the specs of down and synthetic filling, we decided to choose for the Blue Kazoo of The North Face, a 1400g down sleeping bag with a limit temp° of -9°C. Why? Because it's light, relatively small, very popular (we had to visit two stores to have two bags), and!!! (now the unique selling proposition is about to make its spectacular entry) if you two bags of the same length with opposing zippers, you can turn them into one superflabbergastycosy megabag for two persons!!! And that was the point where Eline's eyes started to shine, and the decision was made.

That's it for now, more hardware will follow.
grtz,
F
